An artists’ heaven in lower Manhattan is ready to offer you a unique experience. Soho, acronym for South of Houston, covers an area from Hudson River to Lafayette Street and from Houston to Canal Street. In 1850s, a part of New York’s population moved uptown and so, the Soho neighborhood was created. One of the first companies opened in Soho were Lord & Taylor and Tiffany's. In the 1960s, a large number of artists moved to Soho and in only 20 years, the neighborhood became an artistic, residential and commercial area. Artists had transformed the former factories’ cheap spaces into original studios and lofts.

Nowadays, Soho offers excellent restaurants, trendy shops such as Evolution, large stores, great art galleries and expensive apartments. A favorite tourist destination, Soho impresses everybody through its exquisite architecture. Soho’s greatest restaurants and shops are to be found in Spring and Prince Streets. Many local artists sell their paintings on the sidewalks, so it might get pretty crowded sometimes. The southern part of Soho is less crowded, while the Canal Street offers cheaper shops and restaurants.
